Spring 2008: The Beginning

I hope I'm not the only one. I miss the days of playing soccer. That's why I've created this blog, in order to find others out there in the Davis and Weber County areas (or from other counties if you're willing to travel) that miss playing the sport. My hope is that we can get enough people together, at least once a week, to play a good game.

Now that Spring is rapidly approaching (you know, Spring, the month between "it's still winter" and Summer), and our clocks have been shifted forward an hour, we should be getting some good daylight to play. I know there are many of you out there, like me, out of shape and in need of some good exercise. Even if you don't (jerks), it's still fun. So I hope you'll join us in playing. For those still in school, we'll plan on starting the end of Finals week, or the week after, unless there are enough that want to start a little earlier.

Because we plan on having players from both Southern Davis County and Northern Weber County, we would like to find a place somewhere in the middle. That would mean Northern Davis County or Southern Weber County. So if anyone has a good place that we could play, please let me know. If we get multiple recommendations, we'll do a vote on this site, and whichever place wins will be our official playing spot, as long as it's close to the middle of everyone.

We want as many players as we can get, so let your friends know (guys and girls welcome). HOWEVER, the goal is to keep the games competitive. So we'd like you to only invite those that have played before and have "above beginner" skills. I think you know what I mean. You don't have to be a fantastic player to play, but we just ask that you've played before and know the rules, or at least be athletic enough to learn quickly. We would like to keep it for 18 years and older, but if you're a bit younger and can play, as long as you get permission from a parent or guardian, you're welcome to come.

If you would like to play, please email me at turbosteele@gmail.com
Please include your first and last name, your email address, age, and skill level. Let us know if you have any good places we can play. I'll then add you to the blog, and you'll be able to post comments and other things. As we get closer to playing, I'll post some instructions on what to do if you're not going to make it to a game, if you are going to make it, and any other info we'll need to get out.

Also be aware, this is just a club. A bunch of us getting together to play soccer. But if you feel like not playing by the rules, getting in fights, or being a "coach" when no one wants one, you wont be invited play anymore. So please just come to play and have fun. Also be aware you take all risks of playing upon yourself and you will hold no one else responsible. So wear your shin guards!

COME PLAY!!!! And REMEMBER to vote on which day would be best for you to play (off to the right). Just remember, if we do Saturday mornings then we have to find a field that AYSO doesn't play on.

I vote we play in Kaysville. There are at least 3 full size fields we could try. There's Barnes Park, Kaysville Jr High & Davis High. Plus its in the middle of the areas you were talking about.

Kaysville is absolutely fine with me. But we'll see if there are any other suggestions first, then we'll do a quick vote.
